This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. There's another connection nobody seems to have mentioned yet.  In the=20
Arabian Nights story, the marid Naranj (corresponding to Julius) earned his=20
living not only by turning roots into sherbet, but also by turning stones=20
into kine, and making Ben Yahya (corresponding to Den) slaughter and sell=20
them.  While Julius probably isn't able to turn stones into kine, Mr. Tilly=20
(and Julius if, as I now believe, he took over the carnie practice) certain=
ly=20
could have turned kine to stone. =20
