PEACE: sources for the Doris letter

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Ummm.

Granted, I've only read about half a dozen of Dickens's novels ... but
not a one of the ones I've read (OLIVER TWIST, GREAT EXPECTATIONS,=20
DAVID COPPERFIELD, THE PICKWICK PAPERS -- okay, not really a novel --=20
A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and I'm pretty sure something else I'm forgetting)
was epistolary or even significantly driven by letters.=20

Actually, when I think Victorian + epistolary novel the first thing
that comes to my mind is DRACULA. Which may or may not have anything
to do with PEACE. (Come to think of it, FRANKENSTEIN has an epistolary
frame, too.) This may or may not have anything to do with PEACE, a=20
novel of a very different kind of Un-Dead.
