Newt's main referent

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

No, I'm almost certain that this was before his novel was published, though
it was in the works, and Sterling would have known of it. I can't remember
the name of the novel, so can't check it out against dates--there's a lot of
Newt stuff on Amazon. Just wanted to note that I thought Nick was on the
right track. (But sf die-hards can surely check the con date--if I am
correct that it was a WorldCon--the Newt pub date and the Wolfe pub date).
