This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Douglas Anderson's _The Annotated Hobbit_ was reissued last month in=20
a second edition.  In this new edition, Anderson has greatly expanded=20
the note on "warg" that cites a letter of J.R.R. Tolkien to Gene=20
Wolfe; the new text contains a brief appreciation of Wolfe's work and=20
of the significance of Wolfe's interest in words related to his=20
surname.

The note is printed on pp. 146-147 of the new edition.
