PEACE: rules for reading it

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

No apology necessary!  Messages cross, and I'm glad we agree so tightly on
that particular point.

I fell behind in my schedule of reading . . . yesterday I chopped down a 70
foot tree and it did not fall the way I told it to (what a Weerish thing).
I was not injured, I hasten to add, and the property damage was minimal!  I
finished reading the "Gold" section, though, and should finish the book
today.  My head is brimming with all sorts of PEACE-full thoughts, but I
want to write something short right now:

Another rule for reading PEACE, I'm thinking, after "Trust the text first,"
would be "All ghosts in PEACE are absolutely real."  That is to say,
because the whole thing is about ghosts, then the "ghost explanation" for
anything has to be considered the most likely of all.  We've said this
before but I felt it should be codified.
