This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

But that same paragraph shows Ted marries Melissa. "... two-headed Ted and Lisa into which each less-than-half had vanished more or less=20 utterly and (though the monster is not completely indissoluble still)=20 never to reappear." Despite the usual meaning of "the beast with two backs," the "never=20 to reappear" makes it clear that in this case, Wolfe is talking about=20 marriage and not just sex. But I suspect that you're right that Ted was one of the boys Sherry=20 slept with. Do we really know that Ted and Sherry weren't in high=20 school together? Is there anything that puts Ted working with Aaron=20 and Den in the same time frame as the Gold Hunt, and not a couple=20 of years later, when Ted might be out of high school? Did Ted go to=20 college? Would that be a job requirement? -- Stone Ox --=20
