This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Actually, since first reading that scene, I've always envisioned
the leatherskin as some kind of lobster ... possibly one with a
slightly softer shell, possibly one that has molted recently;
as for the three jaws, consider this from Thomas Huxley:

   "... when I turn to the forepart of the body I see, at first,=3D20
   nothing but a great shield-like shell, called technically the=3D20
   'carapace,' ending in front in a sharp spine, on either side=3D20
   of which are the curious compound eyes, set upon the ends of=3D20

_Six_ pairs of jaws!?! Okay, that's a bit of overkill... but
perhaps Horn doesn't see them all...
