This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

One mem= ber=20 of the list, who obviously has e-mail access to Mr. Wolfe, made a bargain w= ith=20 me for some information he had if I shared Mr. Wolfe's statement with me. = I=20 made the switch in confidence. Then he assured me that Mr. Wolfe's stateme= nt=20 was a joke. Then, since I only communicate with Mr. Wolfe through the mail and have not=20 yet received a response with permission to post the message, this list memb= er=20 e-mails me back and says that he has just confirmed with Mr. Wolfe that he = was=20 only joking, and that Mr. Wolfe thought I would see through the joke right=20 away. The problem is, I don't think Mr. Wolfe got my letter yet asking permission= to=20 post it, and I don't know if the list member stressed that to Mr. Wolfe I=20 wanted to maintain some level of discreteness while sharing Mr. Wolfe's=20 statements. I hope Mr. Wolfe isn't mad at me. And to top it off, the information the list member swapped with me REALLY=20 sucked. I don't think I should ever, ever post to this list again. I should be hap= py=20 in my old little world where I can't talk with other people who respect suc= h a=20 genius. :( I still believe what Gene told me, because it is in his own hand on my=20 Christmas card; it's not April. And while I'm smart, I tend to believe wha= t=20 the author of a work tells me. I've gotten a lot of criticism. People say= I=20 tilt at windmills. I'm not an ethicist - but this all seems so very wrong=20 somehow. If you still want to know what Mr. Wolfe said, e-mail me personally and we'= ll=20 talk about it. He already knows I've posted something about it. But he ne= ver=20 told me not to say anything. Did I go about everything the wrong way? I'm=20 sorry. Marc Aramini --=20
