Trees again

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Some people on this list are very interested in the
role of trees in the Sun books.
One of my favourite poems is Hallaig by Sorley
MacLean. This poem was written in Scots Gaelic and is
about the highland clearances (what else). In this
poem the author imagines that the spirit/soul/essence
of those who have now left the islands and glens
deserted (vanished people anyone?) still remains and
is manifest in the trees and woods coating the land.
Now I am not suggesting that Wolfe was thinking about
this poem or anything like it (but how I wish it could
be true), however some may just find this
useful/interesting/inspiring.
The poem begins, =E2=80=9CTime, the deer, is in Hallaig wood=E2=80=9D.
