This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

The point is, you can, just about,  write CF and not be Christian.

In the same way that you can, just about,  be a Catholic and not be
Christian.   :)

OK, not literally.

But what I mean is that it is a matter of cultural background not religious
belief.

Catholicism is deeply connected with Cosmology and physics.

And ANTI-Catholicism is even more deeply connected - modern cosmology grew
out of Catholic theology by opposition and binary fission.   Galileo etc.

A CASE OF CONSCIENCE would squeak in.   So would BLACK EASTER, which was, of
course, dedicated to CSL.

Blish was an agnostic  BUT he was fascinated by the existential questions
Christianity (and espescially Catholicism) has grappled with for so long.

Did I ever tell you of the time I went to look for Lewis' grave in the
Oxford  churchyard he was buried in, and found Blish's?

word "fabulation" does that fairly effectively. Or perhaps
"Christian Mythopoieic Fantasy," which would be accurate but
ugly ...?
