Herodotus and Xenophon

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

A couple questions for my Latro supplemental reading:

1.  Which works of Herodotus and Xenophon are the most relevant to the
Soldier books?

2.  Are there good public domain translations available on-line?  It would
be nice if I could stick them on my Palm Pilot to read at odd moments, but
I'd get a book if the translation were a lot better.  The only one of
Herodotus I see on first Google is by George Rawlinson.
