This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Well, so Wolfe is now apparently out of date!
         I think 100 years from now, all our SF will be seriously out of=20
date. Conventional SF works in terms of theories about the universe that=20
are just that: theories. Better: myths. Can anyone seriously believe that=20
humanity has done more than just scratch the surface of the reality of the=20
universe? We cast out grids, paradigms, myths, that seem to make the most=20
sense of the data we know. How much don't we know? We've not been at this=20
very long.
         That's why I like SF much more than I like PBS. SF is literary,=20
fun, mythical. PBS always seems to think the latest word is also the last w=
ord!
