This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

There's more variation among Christians than you might think, especially=20
among the bad 'uns that read a lot of old books. Whether you call them=20
"variations" or "heresies" depends on when/where you live.

I think Wolfe believes in a Satan. I just chose not to take it for granted.

I was thinking more in terms of the original Hebrew concept of Satan than=20
Jung directly, but Jung isn't too bad a fit (I believe he studied qabbala=20
among other things). The concept of Satan (and the angels, in general) has=20
been bent and reworked quite a bit to get to the devil-figure most people=20
automatically think of today - but that's getting into a long digression.=20
Catholics, especially free-thinking ones, aren't necessarily going to think=20
of it the same simplistic way as your average fundamentalist.
