This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Maybe it's my sick mind at work, but I always surmised that Weer's theory
held that Napoleon was surreptitiously, uh, fondling himself. (In
Seinfeldian terms, the Emperor might have ruled much of Europe but he was
definitely not master of his own domain.) Although I suppose the hand
would have to be much lower than portraits usually place it.

In any case, that's the type of explanation a certain type of boy at a
certain age would take great delight in recounting, especially to older
relatives. And it would invariably offend.
