This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I had the looming thought in the back of my mind that Latro was a god,=20
probably Ares, and then the clincher was when Thamyris starts addressing La=
tro=20
as Pleistorus in Chapter 24 of Soldier of Arete. Unless Ares is the guy wi=
th=20
the lance that rides by Thamyris' castle while Latro is sneaking up there o=
r=20
he appears in the next 70 or so pages, I don't think (H)e makes an appearan=
ce=20
in the books. I am especially interested in the almost random manner in wh=
ich=20
Wolfe associates Ares with Ahura Mazda, the singular God that embodies good=
 as=20
opposed to the plurality of lesser deities that proliferate on Olympos. Do=
es=20
that make Ares an incarnation of the "true" God instead of just an angelic=20
being - thereby possibly making Latro much more than a man, but something l=
ike=20
a trial run for Christ?

Also, I believe that Oior cannot look directly at Latro at one point in=20
Soldier of the Mist because of the weird glow that suffuses Latro's body. =
The=20
question is, how does latro's identity as Lucius tie in with the possibilit=
y=20
of being Ares?

And yes, Aphrodite does seem particularly anxious to couple with Ares - who=
se=20
"seed" must be preserved, according to Elata.
