This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Lions, eh? Well, since we don't know where Wolfe is going in this=20
series, if he ever gets to go there, maybe it is worth pointing out that=20
the royal house of David are the Lions of Judah. You are wondering if Latro=20
is like Severian, who is both Apollo and a post-Christ Christlike=20
Christian. Maybe Latro is both Ares and a pre-Christ Davidlike=20
pre-Christian. (There has to be a better way to say that, but you get the=20
point, I'm sure.)

The Emperor of Ethiopia is also the Lion of Judah.

Maybe that what the wolf is in Roman territory, the lion is in the=20
parts farther east? Coordinate imagery? Or that Latro is Roman wolf in his=20
mere humanity, and Ares/David(?) in his divinely-empowered humanity? When=20
Lucius is empowered by Virtue (arete) he is Latro? Lucius : Latro :: Jesus=20
: Christ :: any Roman : Ares?

Is the black rider the "divine archetype" of the black man?
Just some grist for your mill. It's been a long time since I read these, so=20
perhaps none of this is helpful!
