Sev's not-so-perfect memory

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

As an ex-computer geek, I think of it like debugging - there's always some
left, no matter how carefully you check. I sort of appreciate the
serialization point, but it doesn't seem to me that there's that much
difference - presumably a serializer will also check against earlier
chapters?

One of my problems with Roy's list representing deliberate "errors" is just
their triviality - I find it hard to think that most of them could mean
anything much.
