First Publication

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Eh? Was the MS complete before initial publictaion?

If so what caused the delays in first the UK edition?

A friend recommended me TBotNS before the third volume was published. When=20
it was I bought the three books [Arrow, 1st UK pbk] believing that it was=20
a trilogy. I was very upset to find that there was a fouth and I had to=20
wait for it.

The ISFDB gives 1980, '81, 81 and 82 as first publication dates which I=20
would assume to be US: can't get to my copies to check as I'm at work.
