Tut, tut, and a little history

Lisa Schaffer-Doggett · 30 Jul 2003, 03:38 · from urth-v0307.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Don wholeheartedly agrees with this, however . . .

I too understand. This place (bay area) is a little like the Balkans=20
sometimes or maybe more like "Gangs of New York" with BMW's. The sharp=20
economic divide, combined with the overpopulation, xenophobia, and=20
covert racism that festers below the surface here can really do a=20
number on your attitude. Plus it's been hot as hell here lately.=20
Still courtesy and care (especially with emails) are best. I'm not=20
sure why I wrote this except to say that while I disagree with what=20
happened, I know it didn't come from some emotionally unstable=20
neverland.

Regards to all
Don
