Father Inire's Mirrors and Wolfe Physics

Tony Martinez · 19 Aug 2003, 17:35 · from urth-v0308.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I forgot: the mirrors are one way to filter out all the frequencies
except the one you're interested in, since only the components whose
wave-lengths subdivide the space between the mirrors exactly add
together, rather than reducing each other. Lasers and the like are
built on this idea, and provide light with a very narrow frequency
set--although, unfortunately, below light-speeds.

P.S. Um, I think. It's been a while, and I don't have my books and
notes etc. with me, so forgive the non-research.
