Finally... UOTNS has arrived

Christopher Culver · 30 Sep 2004, 10:32 · from 2004-September.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Wolfe originally intended to let the story stand on its own in those
four books. The only reason he wrote UotNS is because of pressure by
his editor.

This is all discussed in the archives and in interviews with Wolfe
available on the web. I'm glad that the list is getting new people,
but be aware this issue, and many others, have all be discussed
before, and you'd get more profit out of the lengthy discussion in the
archives than curt answers now.
