This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

It was Elijah. It reminds me of the spirit of the dead witch in THE KNIGHT,
whose voice could be heard in the falling rain.

I'm not convinced there's anything important thematically about Apheta's
method of speech (surprisingly, since I tend to see purpose in so many
things that others don't). It strikes me as a clever possibilitythat has
caught Wolfe's fancy...speaking through anti-sound...the louder the noise
the more clearly one can be heard, etc.

This discussion has filled my mind with so many things and changed my view
on some things. I'll try to post something tonight.
