This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

The one and only argument that might be considered
pro-slavery that I 
can 
recall from Wolfe offhand is the reminder that *for
the ancients* a 
certain 
amount slavery was actually the humane way to
eliminate a conquered 
city as 
a potential threat - the alternative being wholesale
slaughter.

I don't think that could be held as a pro-slavery
argument in anything 
like 
this context.

Consider Io in the Soldier books who pretend she is
given to Latro as a slave to avoid a worse fate.
In VRT the interrogator argues that those who are
dependant on government for healthcare are slaves.
The slave at the end of that story is complicit.
Or take Bruno in TIODD!!!
I am sure GW also poses the arguments for slavery in
the Sun series and if you missed them then I am not
sure what to say.

Nevertheless I agree that GW disapproves of coercional
slavery when there are better alternatives.
