What is _Urth of the New Sun_ about?

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for.                            It's been awhile since I read it,but it seems to me
an underlying theme was that Severian was supposed to be procuring some sort of
nuclear device from an alien race that would 'restart' the sun which,of course
a million years into the "Urth's" future, was dying.
