Blish's "Conscience" vs. Wolfe's "Fifth Head"

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Well, I see it as basically a statement that mankind can't be improved.
You see we were made the way we are by our "creator" and this is the
only way we can be (ie Biblical viewpoint). Any attempt at improvement
is "evil" and goes against the will of our "creator." Clones are
unnatural and evil. Blah, blah, blah. But this is all so stupid and
lame that I'll hide these ignorant sentiments as the unstated
underlying basis of a story.
