This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Well, let me say I found The Book of the New Sun and the Soldier series und=
erstandable, at least as to what was happening and why (on the surface, if =
there were hidden depths, they remain that way).

Among short stories, if you can find them: ones I found clear and worthwhil=
e, ranked: "War Beneath the Tree", "My Book", "When I Was Ming the Merciles=
s", and "How the Whip Came Back".  "How I Lost the Second World War and Hel=
ped Turn Back the German Invasion" is plain and amusing, but seemed to go o=
n too long for what was in it; maybe it was playing a different game that w=
as over my head.
