Pretty impressive, Alex

John Clute · 24 Aug 2000, 13:26 · from whorl-v0011.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Still trying to get a chronological sort on what's been said and where in=20
this list.
Noticed the reference to Moses. How old is this list? My own=20
reference to Silk as Moses was written in 1996, for a _NYRSF_ review of=20
_Exodus from the Long Sun_ . I didn't credit anyone, or any pattern of=20
thought, for the image--and would have, had I known I was stirring a broth=20
that had already been cooked.
Not that being the first to think something is the same as being=20
the first to think it well--but one of the reasons I joined WHORL was to=20
try to keep from reinventing the wheel.=20

Best,
John C
