Horn Dies

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Maybe. Or maybe an ascension, since in some sense "Silk" has just been=20
"resurrected." In a sense, Horn has "gone up to heaven" in answer to the=20
prayer for "daily" bread. Of course, that definitely mixes the metaphor,=20
since the Whorl is originally Egypt under Pharaoh, from which Moses=20
delivers the people, and even more it is the people of God under the Jewish=20
leaders (Ayuntamiento) and Romans (Pas etc.), from which Jesus delivers=20
those who trust Him. At the same time, since Horn goes UP to the Whorl as a=20
result of dying, the Whorl seems to shift into a partial image of heaven.=20
Since Old Pas has himself died and been resurrected into New Pas=20
(Constantine-like?), the Whorl can shift in (one) of its symbolic meanings=20
-- especially since Wolfe is not writing any kind of close allegory anyway.

FWIW: I'm a Reformed (Calvinist) former minister, now theologian; but on=20
the sacramental (real presence, not just symbol) side of that coterie. So,=20
I've got no problem with Wolfe's symbolism.
