This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

         Okay, I know your point of view. (I have your book on hell, after=20
all.) My point was the influence of the Bible on our culture, and during=20
those centuries it was believed that the Bible forbids polygamy and that=20
people who practise it suffer for it. Obviously nobody believed that Mary=20
and Martha were "wives" of Jesus, and they accepted the text as teaching=20
that Mary accepted the role offered her. So, however some modern people may=20
read the Bible, I was speaking of its cultural influence over the previous=20
1800 years. I don't suppose this is a good topic for this list to discuss=20
in detail; I assume you see my point.
         But I grant your point about Homer and the early epics, at least=20
to a degree, as I stated in my other post.
