This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

The story is new, it's called "Copperhead", and it can be found here: http://www.scifi.com/scifiction/originals/originals_archive/wolfe/wolfe1.htm l> Actually, if you access the site at a somewhat earlier point-- http://www.scifi.com/scifiction/originals/ --you'll be able to access the charming autobiographical sketch Wolfe wrote to accompany the story. It's found in the lower right hand corner at the hypertext link "by Gene Wolfe". Hey, Nick, do you know any other on-line editors who might be able to run pieces by the man?
