This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Hello all... I used to subscribe to the BOTNS list years ago and after this=20
short hiatus have subscribed to -this- list.... as a sort of introduction I=20
thought I'd begin with a really sophomoric question that has been bothering=20
me... I'm on my third re-read of BOTLS but have only read Short Snu once.

At the beginning of Return to the Whorl, Horn/Silk is cared for by a couple=20
near Silk's old residence (manse?)... what are the common ideas about who=20
they are?  The man's sudden (violent) reaction to Horn/Silk at the end of=20
their encounter is quite odd and implies a lot more than is apparent=20
(surprise there).  I'm sure I've overlooked something of critical=20
importance, but I'll go out on a limb and ask for your ideas...
