This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Point taken - I seem to also recall that in Severian's day, Ocean
encircled Urth, which would indicate a bit of slippage.

Whoops. OK, back to the Whorl. Regarding the Whorl's age, or how long
since its launch, I seem to remember a letter to Silk from Quetzal in
"Cald=C3=A9" that bore an actual date: "30th Nemesis 332". 332 years since
launch? I have no idea what "30th Nemesis" means.

(BTW, I'd also like to see a separate Wolfe Appreciation mailing list
if such a thing comes to be.)
