Digest whorl.v007.n004

David Langford · 13 Jul 1997, 15:16 · from whorl-v0007.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Part of my own tooth-gnashing over this resulted from the fact that the=20
ghost or "ghost" might just still be one of the inhumi. Wolfe has merely=20
told us that it wasn't Quetzal! (And, earlier on, confirmed that Quetzal=20
wasn't the only one aboard the Whorl.) Ah, the blinding light of=20
hindsight.

The answer that gave me most relief was the bit about the =3Daccidental=3D=20
Mint/Marble mixup. That one was hurting my brain.

Thanks for putting it like that. I'm conscious of having privately=20
formulated many, many dumb questions about BotNS and BotLS....
