Cordwainer Smith reading order -- dissent

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Hmm. I've read only the Smith stories that were in the Del Rey "Best of"
volume (boy, I miss those!)--I have the NESFA volume and just haven't read
it yet. I seem to be alone in liking Smith and not particularly liking "The
Ballad of Lost C'Mell", prefering (by a wide margin) "Scanners", "Rat and
Dragon", and "Alpha Ralpha".

Regardless, no one who takes sf seriously, or who likes Wolfe, should be
without first-hand knowledge of Cordwainer Smith.=20
