This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Well now, Nigel, let's not get carried away. -Ozma of Oz-, published in the
early years of this century (and a book we're pretty sure Wolfe has read,
given "Eyeflash"), has an underlake bubble-dome city operated by a sort of
hydraulic lift; it had little submarines too. And at least one of the James
Bond movies had something of the sort, complete with baddies, also with
submarines (well, you'd need 'em , wouldn't you?). And have you seen the new
Star Wars movie? A whole underlake city, and drop-dead spectacular.
