I haven't read that story, but given the Catholic connection Ron's post describes, I instantly thought thusly: Ernie Cotha -> "Golgotha", the hill where Christ was crucified -> translated sometimes as "Place of the Skull" Was Ernie a Colonel? Col. Cotha would be a dead giveaway. -John
