Pocketsful of Diamonds

I've just read Wolfe's new story "Pocketsful of Diamonds" in Ed Kramer's anthology STRANGE ATTRACTION. It's a wonderful piece of writing, very atmospheric, very cunning; it seems to be an indirect retelling of the Eden myth, with the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil taking the form of a toffee apple which can talk. And also candy floss that can talk. Weird fairground humour abounds.
