perhaps "pelagic" is the only sort of vessel not encountered in Severian's chronicle, though the crypt would seem to depict one.
I'm quite certain that the ship depicted on Severian's tomb is the spaceship on which he sailed between the universes. Its not a terrestrial ship at all, and Wolfe's initial use of the word "ship" is intentionally misleading.
