Doesn't Severian often describe Dorcas's "childlike beauty?" "Dorcas" sounds kind of like "Dolores", Lolita's true name. And "Dolores" in turn suggests pain ... a torturer? Hum, and Humbert Humbert claims (falsely) to have a photographic memory; an unreliable and biased narrator.
