One more note about The Green Rabbit from S'Rian: the name of the first mate, Oueni, through the welsh Owen, is related to Eugene and might be a play on Genie, though, except for the recovery of her hand, she seems to have no magical powers. Both Oueni and Noen have shaved heads, further blurring the gender distinctions, though of course this might make sense on a "poor" ship which has to take any kind of help it can get (lice, etc).
