This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. The author of this review (Victor Davis Hanson) wrote a chapter about  
the naval battle of Salamis in his book Carnage and Culture.    
Salamis is the name  "translated" by Latro as meaning Peace.

I had read Carnage and Culture shortly before I discovered Wolfe, and  
I was thrilled when I recognized what Latro was writing about.

Another great resource for historical background is the Teaching  
Company's audio lectures on Herodotos.
