This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Unfortunately, I found an Ojibwa site with animal names, and it didn't work. More sleuthing: aha, the Potawatami seem to be smack dab on site, but though I couldn't find a language site for them, it's supposed to be pretty close to the Ottawa (Odawa), Ojibwa and Algonkin, and allied to the Illinois and Miami (because of the nature of web engines, it's virtually impossible to track anything down on the latter two). But, serendipity produced its usual prizes: I discovered that the Mohegan (Mohican) is the Wolf tribe (hello Natty Bumppo!) and---are you sitting down, mantis?---Sioux is French for....the Cutthroat tribe. -alga-
