This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Interesting! The debate does carry on after all. I would agree with the
assessment that there are far more S. America references than to any other
geographic location on earth. This includes extant and fossil animals and 
human cultural references.

So I guess the question becomes: if Wolfe didn't intend us to associate the 
Commonwealth with South America why did he use such an overwhelming volume of 
South American references?
