Oddly enough, that second sentence appears twice in Claw: near the end of the first chapter, and near the end of the last. Vodalus and Jolenta -- what's the connection?
Perhaps it is one of the mercurial Wolfe's strong, cutting sentences having both a man-edge and a woman-edge.
